How we check prices
Body Atlas is an independent directory of private health scan prices. This page explains where our prices come from, how we compare them and what we don't do.
Prices checked between 31 October and 1 November 2026.
How a price gets on the site
- We check each price against its source, usually the provider's own website, and record the date we checked it.
- Each price shows its own check date. City pages also show the oldest and newest dates, so you can see how recent the prices are.
- If a price comes from somewhere other than the provider's own website, we mark it as coming from a third party.
- Some providers don't publish prices. When that happens, we say so plainly, or say the price is on request.
- Prices change, so confirm with the clinic before you book.
How we compare like with like
- Body composition and bone density are different scans, so each has its own price column.
- A combined package only appears under "Both together", never as a single-scan price.
- "From" means the lowest price a provider advertises.
- When you pick a scan type, we sort by that scan's own price.
- Where a lowest price needs a referral, we say so and show the lowest price you can book yourself.
Which cities we cover
We start with London and add a city once we've checked at least three providers there.
To be precise, a city page goes live once at least three separate organisations have a published price at a site with a full address. Clinics belonging to the same organisation count once. Booking networks with no fixed address are listed, but they don't count towards that number.
CQC details
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulates health and social care services in England. Provider pages show the CQC details we've checked for each site, with a link to the CQC's own page.
A rating covers the whole site and doesn't assess its DEXA service specifically. CQC pages can also show ratings inherited from a previous provider, which we don't use.
Independence
We don't run clinics or take bookings. No clinic pays us today. If that changes, paid placements will be labelled Sponsored and kept out of the price ranking.
What Body Atlas isn't
We're a directory only. We don't give medical advice, and we don't endorse or guarantee any provider. Talk to a clinician about your health.
If a price is out of date, tell us and we'll update it.
